A blur of nervous tics, pratfalls, tactless comments and acrobatic physical humor, Kramer was inspired by a real life neighbor of series co-creator Larry David. The alter-ego of actor Michael Richards is infamous for his impromptu bursts into Jerry’s apartment, which stemmed from a miscue that sent Richards rushing into a scene. The error was so hilarious that it became a recurring gag in the show.
